When you take action and supposedly “fail”, you’re actually learning valuable lessons. This knowledge will help you to improve things in the future and make your work more effective. Perhaps the second time around you get out there, you’ll have more success because of what you’ve learned.
The featured image above this post sort of illustrates it perfectly. I still remember it like it was yesterday.
My hubby and I were on vacay in the South of France when we happened on a terraced cascade. I decided to get on the rock and splash some water around because it was such a hot day.
Of course, I didn’t take into account that the rock was full of dried algae which gets slippery when wet. Now, I’m stubborn, so I didn’t ask for help when I was slipping and sliding. When I tried to get off the rock, my feet slipped and I fell into the stream. 😛
With some help, finally, the second time around I did get out. Result: wet shoes and a lot of laughter. Luckily, because of the great weather, I could dry up in the sun for the next hour and we were ready to continue on our hike.
You can’t really lose when you take action.
The one mistake you CAN make is giving up too soon or deciding not to take action! Success in business usually takes a little bit longer than people think it will (trust me, I know 😉 ). But even if you don’t see the seeds sprouting up yet, this doesn’t mean that they aren’t working hard to grow, below the surface. You can’t see them.
Everything costs more than you think it does and at the same time, it doesn’t.
Time is relative.
It will go a lot faster if you decide to start today.
Everyone has the feeling that they should be further along than they are right now. The thing is, you are where you need to be right now. Stop comparing yourself with other people who are doing similar things or different things, whatever kind of stuff, whom you perceive to be further along than you.
Decide that see them as a beacon of hope, a sign that shows that what you want is possible and use this to pull yourself up.
You can’t compare your journey with that of someone else. Every person grows at their own pace, in their own time. That’s why there no concept of a long time, or a short time. It’s your time. Whether a turtle or a gazelle, as long as you take small steps forward.
Be grateful that you decided to spend your time working on your dreams. It doesn’t matter how far along you are right now. Enjoy where you are!
Perfection is an illusion.
So is the perfect amount of time. You are you, with your knowledge, budget, resources – don’t get caught up in the shiny high-quality programs and marketing you see out there. That could be you in the future, but right now, your right now is all right. Get comfortable with good is good enough.
Focus on the people you are trying to serve and get your message out there. Trust that where you are, what you have to say right now, and the way you’re communicating it is precisely the way it should be.
Connect with people who are in a similar boat. Not to compare, but to find support from people who can understand how you’re feeling.

No matter what you do, none of it is going to be a complete disaster. If it doesn’t go well, you’ll learn. If it goes well, …. you’ll celebrate.
